Flatbed Fall Protection Systems

Our flatbed fall protection products provide an OSHA-compliant guardrail system for protecting workers from falling off 4-foot or taller truck beds when loading or unloading goods, strapping down the load, or when placing tarps over the products. These systems meet OSHA requirements 1910.29(b) and 1926.502(b).

OSHA 1910.28(b)(1)(i)  states that the employer must ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that is 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level is protected from falling by a guardrail system, safety nets, or personal fall protection systems such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint, or positioning systems.

Flatbed trucks are more than 4 feet in height, so workers need to be protected when they work on them or are on top of them and the loads they carry. Provide flatbed truck operators with the ease and safety of loading and securing safely before motoring with a flatbed fall protection system.

W.W. Cannon offers three different models:

• Kit that can be quickly and easily installed using the stake pockets on the flatbed and includes a ladder and ladder safety gate. Kits are available for 48” or 53” flatbed trailers.
• Rolling stair platform with removable handrails to allow for quickly accessing specific locations along the flatbed without compromising safety in other areas. The rolling unit can be safely moved away from the truck by one or two operators.
• Trailer access platform than can be easily moved on solid rubber wheels. Steps are constructed with heavy-duty, non-slip serrated treads.
