Workers were required to access the tops of HVAC units during the painting process, creating a significant fall hazard in an environment with limited overhead clearance.
Because fall protection systems were not incorporated into the original paint booth design, the available space presented strict height restrictions. The customer needed a fall protection system that would ensure worker safety while allowing painting operations to continue efficiently, without interfering with workflow or wasting valuable space.

The Solution: A Customized, Hybrid Fall Protection System
W.W. Cannon partnered with Gorbel to design a custom hybrid fall protection system that adapted to the existing structure and tight spatial constraints of the paint booth. To maximize clearance, the fall protection system incorporated angled and slanted corners, allowing it to fit seamlessly into the space without unnecessary height or obstructions.
Rather than installing additional posts at the beginning of the system, the track was mounted directly to an existing beam, reducing floor interference. As the system approached the paint booth, support columns and a header beam structure were added, creating a mixed-support fall protection design that maintained strength, compliance, and reliability.
