Secured Entrances for Loading Docks & Facilities
Truck drivers, delivery people and other non-employees who enter your facility can be an insurance risk. Unauthorized personnel visiting your facility may unknowingly walk into active fork truck traffic areas, or into automated machinery work cells. The primary purpose of driver access cages is to enhance safety and security within the facility. Restricting access to designated areas helps prevent unauthorized personnel from entering sensitive zones such as storage areas, equipment rooms, or offices. Additionally, driver access cages produce a controlled environment for drivers during loading and unloading procedures, minimizing the risk of accidents, and ensuring efficient operations.
Driver access cages are a simple, cost-effective way of controlling access to distribution centers, buildings, or factory floors without traditional brick and mortar construction. Building access is controlled by surrounding building entry doors with wire mesh partitions, confining truck drivers and other visitors to a defined area. Accidents involving pedestrians and moving vehicles are a significant concern in busy warehouse environments. Valuable inventory, equipment, and machinery are vulnerable to theft and damage. Drive access cages provide an additional layer of safety and security by creating a designated area for visitors and safeguarding assets from unauthorized access.
Driver access cages can be ordered in any size and may be built free standing or anchored to existing building walls. The access cage also has a pedestrian hinge door for access. The door can be equipped with a full width push bar on the factory floor side to allow employees to exit the factory floor at any given time, or during an emergency. On the inside of the driver access cage, the door is equipped with a simple key lock. Building visitors do not have a key, so this standard key lock keeps drivers confined to the secure enclosed area. Optional add-ons include steel benches for waiting drivers, service window with shelf to greet visitors and process paperwork, and ceilings for additional security. The modular design of the partition panels enables easy reconfiguration or expansion should the need arise.
Over their lifetime, wire mesh partitions are less expensive than chain link fencing. They cost a bit more upfront, (not always since chain link is harder to install) but save you money for years to come. Wire partitions are much more secure than chain link. A guy with bolt cutters can get through a chain link fence. It takes more than bolt cutters to get into a woven wire partition. They can’t be easily climbed like a fence, either. There are no easy feet or handholds in the woven wire panels.
With several manufacturers to choose from, W. W. Cannon solutions experts can help you choose the best application for your needs and budget.
